Default Privately importing a car into the US?

I'm probably out of my mind for thinking about this, but there is a chance I might be moving from Australia to the US in the next few months. Does anyone know whether I can take my car with me? It's either that or sell it.

In Aus we have "private import" laws that allow this. Anyone know how it goes in the US?

just find a way like UPS or something...probably costs a big chunk of change though..you might have to go through emissions and what not which is most likely different that Aussies emission.
