i have no mods just cold air intake on my 03 civic si (the mods r 4 the beast swap to come), anyway i'm noticing i'm getting more power in 2nd after 4grand but shifting into 3rd now is giving me a horrible grind. and its just from 2nd to 3rd at high rpms. i'm swapin the a3 out soon but i just want to know what this is from?

The synchronizers (i think thats how you spell it) go out for the 3rd gear. Just take it in they will fix it for you.

go to http://www.ephatch.com and do a search the grind from 2nd to 3rd seems to be common with our cars, most of them anyway. mine used to do it but that was at like 1000 miles i never took it in, i guess it just fixed its self im at about 9000 miles now and it never grinds...but like i said go to ephatch.com and do a search it seems to be pretty common with our cars some have gotten it fixed under warrenty...best of luck to ya

Just take it to the dealer and have a "shop-foreman" test drive it. They will probably tell you that you need to authorize the tear down. Thats in case they find signs of abuse, but more than likely warranty will cover it, there was a tech here that had an 02-EP3 and after like 7-8,000 miles his would gring in second gear so we replaced the synchros and gears for second. Also checked the rest.
