A suggestion which would benefit the Integra forum audience
Hi all,
Some of you might know me as I have been here for quite some time pitching in my fair share of suggestions, comments and what not.
Many of the threads we scof at are those started innocently by new members of the forums, as we commonly deem "newbies". Generally they are questions we have all read time and time again and conjure those "oh no, not again" feelings deep down...
In hopes of starting 2004 positively, i would like to suggest that an FAQ or Frequently Asked Questions Locked thread be created as a reference for the tid bits that we all take for granted. These details would prove invaluable to newer members and to ourselves when troubleshooting our own car dilemmas.
I'll toss this idea out and see what the rest of the forum thinks about this.
Another motive is to cut down the haters and negativity on some of these threads.
Happy 04 all.

How the heck am I supposed to get my post count up if I can't yell "SEARCH!!!!" at every n00b that comes in here?
On a serious note, I'll second that motion. Something like the RR/Autox forum has. It's full of links and is VERY informative and helps cut down on repeatedly asked questions.

Kinda hard in my opinion to do a good FAQ on the integra as questions in this forum are so different. I think people just need to take the time to search. I'd probably have 7000 posts instead of 6k if i started a thread for every question i've had, but instead i just searched
EDIT: LMAO this post was my 6000th post
how ironic

Thats our wish for this year
for everybody 2 b like u
search
but then again you type a word in search and you could find yourself
swamped with 400 results
then you become lazy
and I myself tried to post some search friendly posts
but still the question comes up.
so the
sticky FAQ will work great but there is only one mod
so we submit our contributions..
I say hell ya!!!!
a FAQ thread will help us a lot....

nah, newbs wouldnt take a look at it. when one signs up here, the only thing they have on their mind is to post up their question. you can try it, but dont expect drastic results.

ive seen some sites that force NOOB's
to read their FAQ's before they post
so that could be done here as well
and eliminate a lot of bull...

I can go along with idea of a FAQ section. It may be difficult to start though. Like, would there be one in every section (integra, all motor, etc.) If there were only one, it would start to become just as hard to dig through. ??
Seems like a good idea though. I really do hate to see new guys coming on here then instantly getting flamed for asking simple questions. Personally, when I see a newbie ask a question like that, I try to answer it asap. If I don't know the answer I may politely suggest the search feature, not jump someones *** and start ****. :shrugs: I guess I'm just a nice person.

if newbs want FAQs about integras, let them to go team-integra.net they have great info that is really easy to find. Honda-tech is where new things happen, not where old info is discussed. (not aimed at ti.net)

I sort of agree. HT is where the big dogs come out and play. However, I feel that we might just need some sort of small FAQ to address some repeated issues. Stuff like the Skunk2 intake manifold. That was a good thread there needs to be more threads like that.
Instead of just telling people to search, I actually think it's faster for you to provide a basic answer to help the n00b with then to just say "SEARCH." Like what if they dont know where to start. If you provide them with some basic key words, phrases, and some knowledge about the topic they'll be able to search on their own. Contrary most n00bs probably wouldn't do that. They'd probably just try to start an in depth discussion about something stupid like "Air fresheners" or something. So I guess it just up to you.

It sounds like a great idea and hopefully the newcomers will actually read the F.A.Q first before asking their question allowing them to grasp the concept of the search feature.
