HELP ASAP!!!! Dealer Says Non Honda Transmission Fluid Will Void Warrenty!!!!
Acura dealer just told em that using non Honda brand transmission fluid would void my warrenty. I brought it to them to have the tranny looked at and to put GM Synchromesh in and now they tell me I can't use the GM Synchromesh, it is goign to void my warrenty if I do (he said if something with my tranny goes wrong later on then they will blame it on the non Honda fluid).
Anyone!? Is this true!!!?!?!?! Help!!!!!!

Honda's motto is "Don't open your hood to strangers". A lot of dealers will insist on Honda only stuff - for good reason - but voiding your warranty is a little over the top. I would suggest going to a less constipated dealer in the future.
Why do you need to use the GM stuff?? Don't tell me it's cheaper.

Don't know about the warranty thing, but I did hear that GM synchromesh was pretty good stuff though.
It won't void your warranty as long as what you use matches the spec required for the R. Do they specify motor oil or transmission fluid for the R? Some Honda transmissions need motor oil. Anyway, Honda transmission fluid probably IS the best thing for your car, so why not just use it?

If you don't put the right thing in though, they are entitled to void your warranty.
But just because you use Mobile 1 instead of the Honda stuff doesn't mean you also void the engine warranty!

However I've heard several people say that using different brake fluid will void certain warrenty issues with the brakes. I will find out soon when I go to the dealership to get a new brake master installed on the car with Super blue fluid, Comptech/Goodridge SS lines, Porterfield R4S pads, StopTech rotors, and Spoon calipers! hhaahahahaha I wonder what they will say! However I will say this, the brake master has been screwed up way before any of this, however I doubt that they will believe me!

ATE super blue is DOT4 stuff, but if Honda really wanted, they could get you on a technicality. It's not DOT approved. Just because it's blue... ATE makes the same fluid in clear that IS DOT approved.
Most if not all manufacturers consider the brake system components to be wear items, and not covered by the warranty...sometimes you'll get a sympathetic dealer who will replace the MC, but not very often.
