ok i have a sohc and my front cross member is banged up..and is pushing my driverside wheel back. ive been looking for a long time for another one..but its so hard to find.. at the dealer its going for over $300 and at the junkyard they are selling it for $70 something. most of the people here and my friends have b series in their 4th gen and the front mount part is cut. so i was wondering if its alright to use just 3 mounts and leaving the front mount off. ive used inserts before and i dont like em..it rattles the whole car. unless if theres another way of stiffing up the mount but not make the car rattle? or shall i jsut leave the front mount off..? any ideas? thanks.
you shouldnt leave that off since it takes on a good part of the force when the motor shifts to the front. but if you have to, it will be ok for awhile.
How about the Jimfab front crossmembers. have you considered those?

yeah i was wondering that too because im going back to sohc after a b series swap and i cut my front mount off so i was wondering if 3 would be ok for the sohc with stock mounts
I drove around for a while with my front mount cut off after goin back to D from a B18A1.
It was decent, but there was lot of movement in the engine, even though my rear mount has energy suspension inserts.... I installed my extra un-raped crossmember, a front mount with inserts, and now all is well again :D
