opinions of autometer gauges? Any other favorite brands?
I had nordskog gauges in the past ( http://www.intellitronix.com ) and they worked out good...
I had autometer gauges a long time ago and hated them, but lots of people swear by them...
any body care to share their opinions of autometer, or any other brand of gauges that offer a full line-up?

I have autometer ultra light mechanical gauges in the race car and like them....and one of their monster tach's with shift light.
Have had no problems.
Have had no problems.
I think I have had Autometer guages in about four or five street or race cars with no problems. Some were electric and some mechanical, some were supplemental to stock guages and some cars only had Autometer. Can't think of any reason for me not to buy more in the future as needed. Price, value, availability, etc. have all met my needs.
I had VDO gauges... out of six guages two failed, one twice, so I had enough of those. The Mini will use Autometer Ultra-Lites.... can't comment on reliability yet.
i've always used Autometer gauges.....good price and reliability....let the riceboys spend way too much money on super high tech bling pentiumIII JDM mack gauges.

I have had good luck with Autometer. I have the 2 5/8 ones on top of my dash, and can usually pick up the reading with a quick glance.

I don't know if they suck or not, but the needle on my boost gauge fell off, and my A/F gauge is burned out and I have a new wideband 02 sensor. In my opinion right now, they suck. A fat one...

If the a/f meter is autometer, I don't think it's a wideband, unless you meant something else.
I haven't REALLY had any problems with my gauges, but my EGT has had seizures a few times, where it starts vibrating a few mm, very rapidly, but it usually chills out after a minute or two. I think it was a crappy ground though, so my fault.

I just put some Ultra-Lite gauges in my truck (tranny temp, EGT, b00st) a few weeks ago, and besides initially having a bad probe sensor with the EGT gauge, everything works well now.

I bought some SPA digital gauges from amweiss of Race-Sport.net and was very impressed by their quality.

I just got a great deal on a Stewart Warner 5-inch tach for my race car and will post a review once it's in and the car is up and running. So far, it looks like a quality piece.
look into Spa Technique. They have awesome gauges. digital and 2 in 1 52mm gauge. very compact and clean looking. quality is top notch too. i have their dual digital fuel pressure/oil pressure gauge. many nice features too.
i have defi gauges and they are awesome (a lil pricey though).. they react way fast and are very accurate. also the control unit is sweet. you can recall peak, set the warning lights and record 40 seconds (3 minutes on the newer control units) of readings to be played back later. plus they look awesome
also those black faced gauges from defi look nice (they are completely black when the car is off, then light up when u turn it on) -- you might want to check em out
heres a thread that has some pics of various gauges (incl. mine): https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=775123
btw i also heard autometers were crap.. a friend of mine has an autometer boost gauge on his impreza and i havent heard any complaints from him, but i noticed a huge difference in accuracy and reaction time between his boost gauge and mine
so id have to recommend defi

Like many of the Spec Miata guys, I had an AIM MyChron dash display installed in my car this year. I've been really impressed with it, even though I've only used a fraction of its capabilities. When you add up the cost of a bunch of gauges and consider the benefits of a lap timer, track map, and data acquisition, it's a bargain.
