check engine light....at honda waiting right now..haha
Was on my way to wash my car this morning, when it bogged slightly and then the check engine light came on. i have never had a problem previously with the car. 99em1 with 55k. took it straight into honda because i have a warranty. they said the code was an emissions code, possibly my cat. only mods done to the car are aem cai, jdm itr cams, and fields vtec controller. unplugged the controller and hid it when i got to the dealership. any ideas? you think they will try to **** my warranty? thanks.
ugh i hope not bro'
but truthfully, they will try and probly do anything to get out of repairs under warrenty. They will probly try to make you pay for it...
shitty dealerships..

yea man don't let them make you pay for that ****. Just take it back and fix it yourself. It probably isn't a big deal. If its your cat then go ahead and get a new hi-flow cat or something.
i got myself a new cat. when i had the stock one the light came on and i was assumed that the stock cat. had gone bad. I replaced it with the new one and it was ok for about 5months then the light came back. so i'm stuck now trying to figure the code out. i'll update later. so late now. good night folks.

Let me guess..you bought a high flow aftermarket cat. I have heard nothing but bad things about them dying after like 6 months.

Jump the computer, and read the blinks. Then you can get an idea on where to start.

Actually I would say that the warranty will not be voided. Are they really going to take off his valve cover and see the cams? No. And the intake modification only voids the warranty on the intake, not the entire car. And i highly doubt that they will know that he had a vtec controller hooked up if he disconnected it. Normaly dealerships are the ones who try and get you the warranty work. They make money wether you pay for it or Honda, and dealerships like to have good things spread about them so they will get more business.

Lol.... My CEL came on like 5 months ago... so I jumped the ECU and read the blinks.. it was the O2 sensor before the CAT.. turned on the next day.. it was gone.. about 2 months later it came back for about 3 days checked before it went off and it was the same 02 sensor.. then went away.. and about 2 weeks ago came back and then went away after about 3 or 4 days.. it was probably the same damn 02 sensor.. Anyway I am going to replace the cat and 02 sensor... if CAT is clogged and 02 sensor burned... IMO the 02 sensor usual comes on because of the damn 02 sensors..
well at this honda dealership theyre pretty strict. if they notice bolts turned or stripped, they begin to check **** out. and yes they make money anyways but sometimes honda will void your warranty for the most basic mod.
