Is a adjustable fuel regulator a waste a money if I already have a electronic fuel controller?
I have a Field VTEC and fuel controller, and was looking at the AEM fuel pressure regulator and was wondering would it be a waste of money? How far can you go with tuning with the controller compared with the regulator? or would both complement each other? I think my ride is in need of tuning, and I wanted to know if this would be beneficial? Any help would be appreciated
Yes they can work together. Waste of money? Hard to say for your application. The FPR can adjust your A/F curve up and down overall. The field can be used to straighten out the a/f or "fine tune" it. I would reccomend useing a dyno with a wideband o2, so you can look at your A/F and make adjustments from there. If you need a pressure regulator you will know for sure.
the fuel controller doesn't do a good job increasing fuel. It lets you play marginally with the fuel. Only a +5% increase is tolerable amount before your ecu will complain with a check engine light. Your need for a fuel pressure regulator will only occur if you need more fuel than your current deliverly system allows. You should dyno before you get one. I would recommend getting one and just setting it at stock pressure. You should get a fuel pressure guage to complement your regulator.
