Default Compression Test #'s?

Well,..the R I bought(Last monday) seems great and is a beast( to me)<--guess I don't have to say that,..this is an ITR forum! by the way--Its a big change From the 350Z!!

But I'm gonna have the compression tested (By Acura) as well as everything else on it checked out to make sure everything is cool w/ her.Its Not that is giving me signs of anything but just for Peice of Mind kinda thing'.

Josh(GRAVITY) seemed to take care of her,..only 24k on her when I picked it up and was pretty much Bone stock except for some goodies,..but just wanna know.
N E WAYZ!

What are some numbers you all have seen? the only ones I know of are 225 on all 4 or right about, and I guess thats pretty damn good? Any others that are normal?

1.What #'s should I be able to live w/ and agree its a Friday R(instead of a monday)?

2. What numbers should i brace myself for problems/or power loss or just kinda in between?

Thanx guys? ***Any Charlotte guys recomend me to take my car to someone that can do it quickly--P1 Perhaps(Jack)?? of just take it to Acura *under warranty* Maybe??

search around, there are lots of posts about compression #s

I think ive seen anything from 185ish to 220ish on a stock compression R. The main thing you want to look for is big variances between cylinders. I think the general rule of thumb is something like 15-20 psi difference between any cylinders and there may be a problem with the cylinder reading low. Id definitely search around though because my numbers are not concrete.

The actual number can vary from car to car (not being a good or bad thing), but for the most part they are in the 210-225psi range. Mine are all between 215-220. If you have more than 10psi difference in different cylinders, that may be a sign of things to come, but if they are all within 15psi of eachother, that is "within spec". If you are more concerned, a leakdown will better tell you what is happening inside your motor.

It'll depend on the gauge they're going to use. It might show high, it might show a little low. As long as it's consistant straight across, you're golden.

But as a comparison (all on the same gauge) and IIRC, a '98 was showing ~220s. Another '00 was showing ~230s. Both with the engine warm. Forgot what mine was but I think it was ~240s with the engine cold.

Edit - BlueR probably remembers better than I on what the actual numbers were during the compression tests.
