Default carbon fiber hood pics here

I had to get my hood and bumper replaced after a minor fender bender. I just had my bumper and Fiber Images hood installed (and purchased at) Diablo Autosports ( http://www.diabloautosports.com ). Great people The bumper was painted by Star Autobody (707-427-0990) and matches the rest of the car very nicely. I recommend Star to anyone in the Bay Area needing body painting.

Here are the pics (might take me a few tries to get right):

I think you have to attach the stock one to the CF hood, at least on mine...

Looking under the lip of the hood, it seems that Diablo actually bolted the rubber into the new hood... i don't think just glue will work - plus you won't be able to get it off again

Hey J...Uh oh, carbon fiber hood? Who do you think you are? Hehe...glad to see your car got fixed. Any future plans for the 'teg, or is it all about the bike now?

Hey, thats a nice fit! It looks pretty much perfect from the pictures you've posted. I have a Vis one on mine, its very similar fit to yours but not quite as perfect ...By the way its raining right now in the bay area, Cf hoods are okay for rainy days as well? Is there anything you use to protect the finish?

samagon-

hehe.. that's one of my roommates' cars. i think he got a two seater on purpose so he wouldn't be obligated to do carpooling/groceries at least we got to watch him learn stick on it.. that was good for a laugh

marsh-

actually, the cf hood was only because of that accident.. and the money from the other guy's insurance comp. i wouldn't have done it otherwise. i think the only other thing i would do is lower the car more.. i'm getting a little bored with the OE sports. i don't want to spend too much on it though.. saving for a used M3

g s r-

it's actually a pretty good fit. the only minor error is on the front driver side, it's not completely seated in bumper's groove. but it's really unnoticable (no one sees it unless i point it out.) it fits really well, but on the freeway i can see the sides puff up about half a centimeter and sort of bounce up and down a little in the wind. scared me at first, but the hook is pretty solid. i might get pins tho, even though i'm told fiber images don't need them.

Are you guys using the CF hood for looks and/or perfmance?
I'm serioulsy thinking of getting one.....a FiberImages hood..

Do you guys assume that the engine is modded when you see a car with a carbon fiber hood?

Are there people who get the CF hoods for pure looks only?
Just curious..

CF hoods are much lighter than stock hoods and they look hella cooler too. Saving up for my CF hood, still deciding on what brand to get. Fiber Images seem to make good hoods but I will keep doing the research.

PROFILE GSR, I had pins installed just to be on the safe side. It's not likely that the hood would pop off BUT all it would take is one to fly off and....

Can you please explicitly explain how you attached that rubber to your new hood? That really finishes it off..
