hit vtec once/twice bad for first 1k miles?
breaking in the car is just for the chassis i.e. springs, steering, and tranny.....the Motor on the other hand has been tested and re tested and after it is assymbled it is driven to the parking lot and let idle for hour or so. its ok to wind out the motor...just no hard shifting or crazy driving....go easy on the CHASSIS
plus its a honda motor....there basically invencible

I wouldnt reccommend beating it until atleast 500 miles. I would wait 500 miles, then change the oil, then rip on it SOME. But i would change the oil again at another 500 miles before u start doing daily beatings. Thats just some advice I've used and recieved from several techs that helped me with my motor build. Idling the car for an hour in a parking lot is a tad different than spinning it at 8,000 rpms. Even the pamphlet i got with my endyn pistons said not to rev past 3,500 rpms for 1k miles but obviously your gonna do what u want.
When we built my motor we chaged the oil at 500 miles, then we took the filter out and cut it in half and looked at all the shavings in the filter, the oil will be a nasty green color too, do not beat it w/o changing it once.
