My GSR has no bottom end power, HELP!
I have a 99 gsr and I raced my friends LS and he beat me. In 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear he took me by two cars. It wasn't until fourth that I finally caught up and he ended up beating me by half a car ( by the way he only has a custum cat-back exhaust, I'm stock). The next day I took my car to two different experienced Honda/Acura tuners. they both test drove my car. when they came back they told me that my car was lacking major bottom end power and that there was definently something wrong. I know that gsr's aren't really powerful in bottom end power, but my car is just way too slow. one of the honda tuners told me that it could be bad cam timing. does anyone else have any ideas as to what could be causing this problem? and can bad cam timing alone cause such a bad loss of power?
P.S. its not my driving skills because I've had my car for a couple of months now and have become pretty good at racing it. (when I race) everytime I shift my rpms don't go lower than 6000.

what have you done to the car maintnence wise?
plugs/cap/rotor/fuel filter/dirty air filter?
how many miles on the car? have someone check your ignition timing as well

yes cam and ignition timing can hurt you alot, get it checked. ive seen the cat converters getting clogged alot lately. also are you shifting @8200rpm and the revs in the next gear drop to 6000? is that what you mean?

Tune up, dirty air filter (real dirty) clogged catalytic, bad gas... anyone of these an more can be the cause.
Any check engine lights ? What grade gas are you using ?
BTW, cam timing being off, you would notice HORRIBLE idle.

check your catalytic converter as it robs MAJOR power when it's shattered/clogged. i shattered the insides of mine running over a raccoon or something while mountain racing
good luck

How would the idle act if the timing was off?

Very rough. It may not cause your rpms to change much, mine was retarded 1 tooth on intake and it idled at 700-800 but the damn car shook like hell, and when I went to hit the gas it bucked and sputtered till I got higher up in the rpms.
