wider tires?
That's about it I am afraid. There's only so much tire you can put on a 6" wide wheel.
Good luck trying to find a 215/45 or a 225/40 which might work but on a 6" wide rim I don't think there's any benefit and quite possibly a loss in response.
Cheers,
Roy

unless you are a stock class autocrosser or showroom stock roadracer what is the need for trying to pinch a wide tire on your stock 6in wide wheels?
205 is plenty wide. find some good tires, you'll be amazed at the difference.
P.S. My 205's are wider than 225s!

Just use something like 205/50 Azenis Sport, if you don't have them already. That's about the widest 205 tire out there.

im sure you can go upto atleast 215 and even 225. but your tires contact area will be arched a little. not a good thing.
some 225 tires has a bead width of 6.5 so it will work ok on your stockies. jus gotta find that tire, but personally i'll
get wider rims.

Certainly, but they are doing it with a wider wheel.
A 225 will fit on a 7" wheel. Most of the people doing this are racing of some sort, and are running Hoosiers or other R compound tires. Not recommended for street use as the 205 is plenty wide and also lighter.

Stock wheels are 6" wide, not 6.5, and 225 would not be good at all.

I have 205/50/15 Falken Azenis and they rub. My car is lowered with H&R Sport. I took out the left side fender liner and it stopped rubbing, but the right side fender liner is still on my car, and it rubs. The fender liner needs to stay on cause of my aem cold air. I don't know about wider tires, I can only imagine it rubbing even more and that the tires will stick out of your fender, which doesn't look nice.
205 Falkens on a 7.5" wheel +38mm offset - Fit just fine
225 Kumho 712s on a 7" wheel +45mm offset- Fit but rub the inner frame a little at full lock.
It's also important to remember that a 225 Kumho is a little more narrow then a 225 in most all other comprable tires (i.e. Falken, Hoosiers...)

i never said stock rim width was 6.5. inch. and why would 225 not be good?

i def. agree w/ u on this. I thought i wanted to run some 225's but then decided on 205/50/15 RA-1's and they're plenty for the street. If i break them lose in a corner then i'm going to fast for the street anyways. but 225's look sick on the car.
