i was working on my alarm the other day and i had to remove the passenger side airbag. if anyone knows how to fix this or has encounter sumthing like this. PLEASE HELP or at least SHARE ME WHAT YOU KNOW !!!! i am desperate!! here's the break down:

1. disconnected negative terminal from battery, waited 3 min
2. disconnected airbag harness from main srs harness
3. worked on alarm, rechecked negative terminal and tested alarm to see if it was working. ( working properly)
4. disconnected negative terminal , waited 3 min and replaced airbag
5. reconnected airbag harness to main srs harness
6. reconnected negative terminal on battery
7. turn key to ignition, waited 6 seconds, but light wont turn off. drove around for a very long time and still wont turn off. tried to erase DTC memory, but dunno how to.

DTC was code 2-1 "open airbag inflator" sumthing like that. for those of you with a helms, u might know wut i m talking about page 23-309 i think

i checked the resistance on the main harness after i unplugged it and it was at .001kohms, which is 1ohm ( it should be reading 2-3ohms according the helms) from the 10th and 14th wire. according to helms, it said that there's a defect on the main harness and should be replaced. i dunno if its the harness, airbag, or the srs unit that is defected at the moment.

i dun want to bring my car to acura for service cuz god knows how much they will charge.

You have to reset it under the dash on the driver side. There is a process you have to follow, then the light will go out.

I wouldnt recommend just unplugging it.

why can't you reset it? I think the air bag system has its own computer, you need to locate it and reset it, maybe the helms manual has something for it?

I know in my dads I30 we just reset it and it never came on again.

 

i took out my airbags once and it was fine. but this second time. i dunno wuts wrong with it. is there really no way to turn that light off cept for pulling out the bulb?

 

ive read that there are ways to like do it , kinda like the paper clip with the ecu thing , but alittle diff , im intrested too , cuse i just got new air bags and my light is prob gonna stay on( havent turned to car on yet cuse no tranny )

 

i tried the paper clip thing, but i couldnt carry out the erasing dtc memory process. the light wont turn off a 2nd time after the first on/off sequence (23-289 in helms). however it's code 2-1 whatever that means to those of you who do know

also tried thereset button under the driver's dash. no luck

 

That reset button is for the Maintenance Required light. The paperclip thing works man, just keep doing it. If you search on here there's a number of threads that show you how. Some with pics or two.
