Default Chattering at low revs when accelerating

What could cause this? Clutch/ Pressure plate? How is it fixed?

Thank you in advance!

heat shield rubbing?

...could be lots of things. You may have to locate where its coming from.

Sounds like its coming from the rear... Could be a heatshield but I doubt it, I remember the heatshield issues with my Integra and this feels different

im pretty sure you're referring to the noisy throwout bearing. in any s2000, when you are in first and let go of the clutch to get going, there will be a "chattering" or a slight mechanical "grinding" noise in the beginning. its very normal.

Thank you again! Is there a fix for this or a better aftermarket one available? SRR?

please explain more when this chatter occurs, what your doing with the throttle and what gear you are in, whether it is on an incline or not and when you hear it, how loud it is, etc etc etc

Vapor-

It is in first gear primarily, at low rpms when I accelerate. Whether on an incline or not it does this. Also if in low rpm range in second.

I got into some very light snow when driving it home this weekend.... but the back tires were so bald that I had to kinda feather the clutch to keep it from going sideways- I think that it worsened or maybe I just didn't notice it before.

does the chatter relate to any shaking of the car or rough engine perfomance? It could be your map sensor in that low rpm use off the line in hot or humid weather, of any kind of weather may cause stuttering or even chattering of the engine due to a very sensitive map sensor on the car.

Feels more like something directly related to the clutch/pressure plate/ housing. It is not really a vibration in the car... more of a sound of something vibrating/chattering. It sounds alot like a coffee grinder.

great I bought an S2000 with a Krups coffe maker motor swap

that can't be pleasant, but how loud is the sound? Can you hear it while driving in traffic with the top down and the stereo on? Or do you only hear it very late at night when no other cars are on the road and you are driving with the top down with the stereo off? The earlier model year cars had issues with buzzing from the clutch, it was specifically the springs in the friction disc of the clutch. They would rattle mostly on deceleration around 3-4k rpms when you left the car in gear and slowed down throuh engine braking.

Usually the chattering could be caused by a warped flywheel against the friction disk. or a warn friction disk...again... how hard do you drive?

I'm no techie by all means... I change my own oil and can put bolt on parts myself... but i dont know mechanical stuff.

With that said it feels like something that the clutch operates in conjunction with.

I'm just gonna take it to the dealer. What should I say or ask? I don't drive it hard or launch hard- i hit vtec everyday with a smile but conservatively.

i know exactly what you're talking about, im telling you man, i've driven many s2000's and they all make the same noise. but if it makes you feel any better, have the dealership take a look. maybe you have a special case.

This sound is normal in some factory clutches, and many aftermarket clutches.
