Default disable trunk latch? good safety measure?

the other day petty theives broke my window to steal a book bag (not my fault; dumb gf), anyway, while they were at it, they opened my trunck, although i had the inside lock locked with the key, they still forced it up and it opened the trunk, when i analyzed it, the metal that prevet it from going down was bent, so i straightened it back now, but i was wondering how good of a safety measure would it be to disable the trunck lock by taking off the cable from inside the trunk?

anyone have any experience or ideas if they still can get in the trunk easily? tell me your views on this security mod.

Bottom line, if someone wants in, they will et in, but that would prevent lazy thievs from a simple "pop" into your trunk. they would have to pry, pic, or cut through the seat to get in if you disabled it. and i sounds like the lock works like **** anyways... its no use if the metal bends with any good effort. I say disable it if you live in a high crime area (you obviously) all it will be for you is a small inconvienence when getting into your trunk.
peace.

I would recommend it. Every little bit helps against thieves. The more layers of deterrent the better. Of course if they want it that bad, they'll get it. But having my trunk cable disconnected from my trunk release lever, it prevented my system getting jacked a couple months back at the mall. Most of the time thieves will pass on harder to get things.

get one of those 2 way pager alarms if your near by the car alot... those done wonders for me... my alarm claims to have 1/4 of a mile radius with full battery in the remote... never actually walked away a 1/4 mile to try it, but i park like 5 blocks from work sometimes, a slight rumble of some1's exhaust triggers me in and the remote goes insane...

If they really want in, they would just lower your back seat (I'm assuming the 5th generation has back seats that can fold down).

I wouldn't disable the latch.

the minor protection is there but if they want you pop your trunk and the jacker is smart enough they would just yank the cable and it would pop right up, it's not hard if you know what you dealing with..
