Grr, test only smog sentence in CA, wondering if p&p will pass?
Hey everybody, thanks in advanced for looking.
I currently own a '98 gs-r with a p&p head. other mods are simple bolt ons: JG carb approved 4-2-1 header, custom 2.25 exhaust to itr muffler, itr cams, skunk2 intake manifold, fpr, and jdm itr ecu. Stock bottom end, and stock everything else, including suspension.
I am going to reinstall the stock FPR, exhaust manifold, b-pipe and muffler, and put on the stock ECU.
My questions are, will the skunk2 intake manifold fail visual? I think the Skunk2 intake manifold is pending CARB legality, but has the design been changed since the first generation of these manifolds?
Also, will the p&p head pass smog in CA?

just pay someone extra money, u never know it might pass go to a place that only charges if you pass that way its like a free trial so if u dont pass u dont pay!

p&p won't effect your emissions. I use to have a built ls engine with similar mods minus the skunk2 intake manifold, jdm ecu, and itr cams. I passed with no problems. the rule of thumb is to make the engine run lean as possible without detonation.

Thanks, everybody, for your quick responses.
sleeperciv - Did you use Hondata to tune your vehicle? I have heard from numerous tuners, not going to mention names, that they can make most mildly modded engines pass emissions with Hondata.

no I didn't use the hondata, it wasn't available when I had my DA. I just used the VAFC and leaned out the engine almost to the point of detonation.

if its just a mild p&p is should pass smog fine. thats if you only have a p&p!!! if you have headwork i.e. cams, gears etc thats a different story.
you might want to consider a tune up before you goto the sniffer. check your plugs, wires, o2 sensor, cap n rotor, also fuel filter.
