Those who installed a hoodlock or have one...

How did you install it? Is it possible to install with a CF hood? If you didnt install it and paid to have it done professionally, how much did it cost?
I am not really sure about drilling into the underside of the CF hood...I assume it can be done since there is a small amount of room under the hood on select spots for a screw.

just to let you guys know this manual operated hood locks are easy to open and by pass..
the only thing protecting the cable is a plastic cover over the cable which is in another plastic cover... think for a moment... cut cable then use pliers and pull on cable....hood pops open...
if you want a harder system to bypass which requires more time and power to move it open and closed... look into the "club hood lock" much harder to bypass and needs power to open and close...dont have a link but its easy to find on the net... goes for i think 60 bucks

It doesnt look as simple as just cutting it and pulling it though. Seems like a pretty damn tough cable.
And what about the locking hood pins, are they as simple to bypass?

well if you dont think its as easy as that buy it and once you get it , you will see what i mean... and its not the cable thats the problem... think of your oem hood cable...given enough slack you can pull on it to open your hood right? same thing involved here, they just put a thicker plastic cover over it so its harder for you to bend...cut the plastic away with a box cutter and pull.. or cut the cable in half and pull...
well ive never tested how strong the hood pins (locking type) are. if they going on a CF hood, the thiefs will try to open the hood just by pulling up on it and cracking the entire hood. if they cant get in they dont care they will move on to the next car, but your left with the damage. and alarms will stop the rookies from trying . but the pros will try anyway...

I have one next to me...it seems pretty damn thick. Cutting it doesnt seem too realistic to be honest. It has the barrel lock, so pulling on it wont make a difference.
I also figure if its on a cf hood, sure they can crack the hood, but then there will be no latch on it, and it will fly up when they drive it. Although I guess they could get around that.

the locking hood pins saved my **** acouple times. they successfully broken into my car but could never open my hood because of my hood locks. so they just leave my car alone because it was to much trouble.

I have Hood locks, that need a key that lock down the hood, they are a bitch to install, so hard to line them up right, good extra layer tho
i just got of these also, the one i got is made by hornet(looks to be the same). it doesnt look like its easy to cut thru, its not wrapped in plastic its flexible metal and it has a hardened lock. it would take some serious bolt cutters to get thru this, and your not gonna get those under the car to get to it(even if you knew about it)
Any updates?
Also thinking about getting the locking hoodpins:

Would these still be effective with a CF hood? For the guys with these pins, does the hood still "pop" at all with these pins?

I got those too but from http://www.summitracing.com for only $25 shipped. I know a guy who has it on his teg. it does pops up but not as high as stock since it kinda slightly rub against the hood(due to the angle of the bolt), no big deal though. just my .02

you can get it at http://www.autotoys.com for $57 bucks, also will withstand over 700 lbs of force. sounds pretty good in my opinion for only $57 bucks
