you can start in second if you so desire...if you have good tires, starting in first is fine...just keep the rpm's down to maintain control of the car better...

shouldn't hurt the tranny, should be alright with the clutch as long as it isn't 3rd or anything

i start in 1st gear, it's all about modulating the gas and clutch to limit wheel spin. i also have dunlop graspic ds-1 studless ice tires.

ya, i start in first too, then shift to second at a low rpm range..usually depending on my judgment according to how bad the weather is...anyhoo, I agree with about modulating the gas and the clutch. The best way is always be cautious..relax and use your judgment.

as long as you keep your RPMs low and you don't gun it you should be fine.

Could you explain how you would kill the clutch, while driving in the snow? It's not like you rev the engine up to 8000rpm and then release the clutch correct?

As if now, my car is horrible in the snow. Got LSD, with a fidanza flywheel and ACT XTSS, and Yokohama Parada Spec II (Summer Tires) While My tires are turned all the way to the right, my car continues to drive straight.

best thing to do in snow is drive in a gear higher than normal, ie: shift earlier than normal.....it keeps rpms/torque to a minimum and your tires are less likely to break loose.

I drive the exact same way in the Snow as i do in the dry. The only difference is that i keep a little more distance on cars, and i have my hand on the hand brake during most turns. other than that, shifting stays the same, speeds stay the same, etc.

Just dont think about it.

Clutch drops at 7K RPMs, that way you melt all the snow under the front tires, and away you go on your merry way
