Default blower motor

I saw a post earlier where it said that the blower motor not working at some speeds was an easy problem to fix. Mine does not seem to blow as hard as it should, or as hard as new civics do.

How do i go about fixing or trouble shooting this problem.

thanks jesse

is your lights and intruments inside your car dimming while you rev? and when you rev does your blower not blow as much? if so your altanator could be going out. it happened to me in my old 4-door. could check it out. also i had the ground from the altanator be loose and you could tighten it up and that could possibly work, just a thought.

no it's not like that. It is more of the higher speeds don't work. Motor just does not seem to blow like it should.

I saw someone post about it on this forumn. But i could not IM them since i am new on here. Well i used to have an account up till a couple of months ago but i forgot my password and it's under an old email so i can't retrieve it haha. Damn internet

thanks jesse

If the blower motor runs at the low setting(s), but not the higher or highest setting(s), it is most certainly a burned out 'blower motor resistor'. With the engine off, ignition on, you should be able to hear the blower for this test.

The blower motor resistor is mounted on top of the blower housing with 2 phillips head screws and has a plug on it with several wires. Remove the glove box for easier access to it.

Not to thread jack but my crx hf blower motor has no low speeds working... it only works on the 3rd and 4th settings.... its tickin me off !

Also the thing sounds tremendously thumpy or super strong when it runs, is that normal? My 1992 CX is quiet as a lamb but still pushes out huge amounts of air, so I wonder if my crx blower motor is on its way out

any guess for that fix?
thanks a lot,

Normally the low speed part of the resistor will burn out. It's simple enough to pull it out and look at it. If the wire is burned open it should be obvious. If it's OK, the next place to check would be the switch and the wiring between it and the blower.

another thing that slows them down is leaves. civics don't have the best guard against preventing unwanted debris fall down in there...i pulled a hefty pile of leaves out of mine last year when i noticed mine getting alittle buzzy and slowing down.
