Hitting 14's
I own a 95 GS-R w/ the following mods
-AEM CAI
-DC 4-2-1 one piece SS header
-Apexi N1 cat-back exhaust (just installed)
-springs, rims, etc.
I need to be fitting 14's by the end of the year. I'm goin to the track next wed., and i'm wondering if i will be hitting 14's and if not what other performance mods would i need.

i have heavy *** 17's (5 zigen Heidfelds), 14 inch ls hubcaps, and 15 inch GS-R's which my friend won't give back to me. Last time i used 14" and i had no traction at all in 1st and 2nd gear.
Does anyone else have the same mods and have hit 14's?

My best friend has a 95 gs-r.He ran a 14.2 and has backed it with about half a dozen more 14.2's.With exactly what follows.Passenger seat and rear interior removed,USDM ITR full exhaust(manifold,cat,etc...)Homemade CAI,USDM ITR pistons. That is it.He ran those times on Bridgestone re 730's.It is not that hard.I have seen several friends with gs-rs run 14.2's-14.4's with very little modifications.Removing the weight is key as is good tires and being able to drive.Everytime I go to the track someone is asking them in disbelief of what they have done to there cars.
The 17's will kill your times. And slipping the clutch from a high rpm is a good method of launching. That is where practice comes into play. You need to find that threshhold where you are slipping it fast enough to get a nice controlled wheel spin but not to let the car bog.

You should be able to hit 14's without any problems... the only thing that can keep you from doing that would be your rims... 17's wont help you at ALL. I'd put the stock GS-R rims back on...
