Default Auto to manual swap help!!!

Let me give you a little background...I did a automatic to manual conversion on my 94 LS. I replaced everything EXCEPT for the ECU to save a little cash. This can be done as long as the auto shifter slider thing is in place and is in Neutral.

Okay here's the problem...I bought a ECU from another member on this board. I was under the impression that it was purchasing a 94 LS 5sp ECU.

I finally get the ECU and I plug it in and a few things happen. It started up but the backup lights won't work (something the MANUAL ECU controls). I then unplugged the white auto shifter slide, because I didn't think I needed it. Now with the slider out the car won't start!

Also when I try to take the key out of the ignition it won't come out. Luckily I know where the interlock is for that, so I took it out.

Here a few pics too:

Here's a few pics of some wires that I'm not exactly sure where they hook up.

The big one is built for 3 wires but only contains two

In this pic the two connectors in red were connected, but I'm not exactly sure if there were supposed to be. The white one has never been connected since the swap.

Please help, thanks!

PS: PLEASE DON'T ASK ABOUT MY CONVERSION on this tread. I don't mind questions at all but pm me, don't post on this thread, thanks!

Hey...i also did an Auto to manual swap on my 94 LS My reverse lights don't work either and i DO have a manual p75 ecu. The ecu DOES NOT, however, control the reverse lights. If you plugged the reverse light harnesses together without rewiring, it won't work. That's what i did, and my reverse lights won't work. There's a thread archived here somewhere on an Auto to Manual conversion about how to rewire the reverse lights to get them to work...juss gotta do a search...i'd give you the link, but i don't have it anymore...

as for the back up light you need to take the wire off the slide shifter and re-wire them to the 2 wires comming out of the front of the tranny.

the auto have an electronic ignition lock, You need to take the wire off the park position and ground it,

As for the starting there is a wire going to the park and the netrual spot on the slider you need to make sure they are both grounded to make the car start..

I'll look up the info from when i help a buddy do his. I have all the wire colors and which ones to ground, and which one need to have power.

i just did another conversion for an ek. on the main auto shifter harness there is a wire that needs to be grounded in order for the interlock to be bypassed---forgive me i forget the wire color. also on the reverse lights. the 2 wires from the trans needs---one wire needs +12v switched attached to it and the otehr wire gets hooked to the wire in that same harness that proveds +12 to the reverse lights....you can just probe around the harness with a 5amp fused wire to figure it out.

I found this post by "the DR." in the archives:

"for the starting thing, hook up the 2 thickest wires together ( i think theyre black/white )
for reverse lights, there are 2 wires coming off the top of the transmission, hook those up to the green/black and solid yellow wires at the auto shifter."

Is this correct, it sounds like it to me but I just want to be sure. Also "the DR.'s" post said to hook the two wires up to the other wires on the slider. Does that mean connect ALL FOUR wires together?? Which wire goes with which?

Thanks again everyone!

It cost me about $2500 for everything...but like I said please don't ask about the conversion itself.

I need help with re-wiring the backup lights. Thanks

FIXED!!!! Thanks to everyone!

Initial problem was that the backup lights wouldn't turn on when I threw it into reverse. Thanks to everyone, I ran 2 wires from the reverse light plug from the trans, though the firewall to the automatic shifter/slider thing. I actually removed the slider, left the plug and shoved the 2 wires from the trans into the plug that connected the green/black and yellow wires. Works great!

Thanks again!
