First of sorry about the shitty title. The oxycodone (just got wis-dumb teeth drilled/yanked) limits my capacity right now. My question is this. Have many of you guys got screwed over by your insurance companies after you ITR's got stolen by gutless ******? Basically, I'm looking at a 97 in really good shape and blue book says that it's worth about $13k. I'm just worried about the worst case scenario: finance the whole paid amount ($18k or so), cars gets stolen, insurance gives me blue book (13-14 thousand) and I still owe bank $3-4 grand! Has this happened to anyone or can it legally happen. I guess I could pay for more insurance coverage.
My sympathy goes out to those who have had their pride & joy taken by theives.

You should of a coverage called loan/lease gap coverage. That would cover the difference in loan balance and value of the vehicle. Very inexpensive coverage to have.

Thanks bro. That's pretty much what I figured. We all know how insurance companies work, if you want do dish out more money for more coverage, they'll gladly accept.
When mine was stolen I think I got screwed simply because after it was recovered the insurance company took 53 days to tell the shop to put a new interior in it, which left me without a car for almost 2 months and no rental car.
Not really answering your question, but yes the insurance company screwed me.

You'd usually purchase the "Gap" insurance when you buy/finance the car.
