Default Looking to boost my D16a1

Well as many of you know I have a D16A1 in a 2nd gen. Everything seems fine so far. I was actually planning on boosting. I wanted to know if anyone can tell me some stuff about the internals. How much PSI can i run on stock pistons/rods with a 14b. The engine has been rebuild. With extenseive work done to the head. I was guessing around 8 PSI for daily driving on stock internals, sound about right?

mileage since rebuild? Are you still at stock compression?

Most cars can take 8-12 psi from the factory, but as always yrmv. With head work, assuming the combustion chambers have been cleaned up you might be able to run higher than that without detonation, but I wouldnt risk it without better pistons and rods.

i've heard somewhere that the a1 rods are a little stronger than the a6's. should be fun.

since the rebuild the cars probbaly got about 700 miles on it now. i never use anytrhing other then 93 octane. Im trying to see if i use 93 for 1000 miles then i pull my head if i can notice the difference from 87 octane.

if your still using the A1 Pistons.... well i'd say dont boost because they have the highest dome of any D Series piston. Just get your self some exospeed regrind cams, a header intake exuast and some ecu tuning and you'll be fast

well.. if i plan on turboing the car. Headers are kinda a retarded option, but for the record i already have 4-2-1 headers. and webcams cam regrind. and exhaust, i have a mugen chip i bought off ebay that i need to get programed to raise the rev limit, but im not a fool. that would kidna be asking for it/ Im gonna wait and either throw some real rods/pistons in there and 8200k the revlimit. or boost it..

sorry, but i love tha sound

pppssshhhkkkk

i win

I didn't know that D16A1's could fit into a 2g CRX...

You really don't need 93 octane fuel with that motor stock.

If it really is an A1, DEFINITELY boost it! It doesn't matter that the pistons are domed - the CR is still below 10:1, and it has the strongest OEM D-series rods out there. 8 PSI on stock internals daily driving should be just fine. You should be able to bring it up to 12 PSI fairly easily as well.

Good luck.

Oh... Well, 8 psi will still give you a considerable safety margin.
