Default radio needs power

trying to install a stereo in my 90 crx. the stereo harness is completely uncut....looks brand new...but for some reason.... i bought one of those stereo connectors from walmart for my car, and connected it to the stereos wires. when i connect it all together, i still cant get the stereo to turn on. checked the fuse and its still good. i know all the wiring is correct because i tested it in my other crx and it works perfectly....i think that the 12v power wire that sends power when the switch is turned isnt working.... if thats the case....where else can i source power from that only sends juice when the switch is turned? i hope im making sence.....

also my cig lighter not working.... probly related....if someone knows an easy fix to fix both problems let me know

thanks

the accessory fuse would be in the fusebox in the car, but the radio's constant power fuse would be under the hood. One of those two sounds like they are blown

every fuse is fine: in car, or under hood. ive also noticed the following:

the radio doesnt work, the cig lighter dont work, the clock DOES work, these are all on the same fuse under the dash.....

idk.....im htinking about stealing power from the clock

jsut tap into a constant under your dash..im guessing you fried the wire...recheck the fuse.. even if it looks good.. just replace it anyways

get a voltmeter, or even a 12v test light (>$5). Connect one end to ground, and touch both your 12v power and remote/switch wire on the back of your deck harness.

You'll know right away if you are getting your 12v constant and or your switched.

If you feel the need to run a new wire to your switched power output then test the BLACK/WHITE (starter) or YELLOW (accessory) wire underneath your dash located near the steering column at the fuse block, you can also tap a 12v constant there, and make sure if you run a new fresh constant line that it is fused.

typically in Honda's the clock is run off the constant (for backup power and what not) and the cig lighter and radio's accessories are tagged together. Most honda's the cig lighter will only work with the key turned. It's leading me to believe your accessory wire is infact messed up. Get a meter and test the actual voltage down the line (as stated above). Just like I posted in another thread, I've seen fuses that look good to the eye only allow at most 6 volts to pass. That's always one of those things that will take you forever to figure out if you don't actually measure the voltage.
