Default another suspension q

im trying to take the top bolt off the shock
(the one where you takeit off and the spring goes boing)
so im trying to take the nut off with an impact gun, the nut is spinning but so is the shock on the inside of the spring.

is there anyway to get around this?

Is the shock being replaced with a new one?
If so, Lock a wrench onto the shaft running up the middle of the spring.

Try and grab as close as possible to the nut then so the shaft doesn't spin.
Use a hand tool to losen the nut.
<--forgot how to spell /\

yup. Whats happening is the entire shaft is spinning preventing you from undoing the nut.

yah....if your really careful you can wrap something around the shock slider and pinch it tight with the vise-grips.....this will stop the shock from spinning so you can hopefuly get that ******* nut off!!.....good luck

You should of break loose all the top bolt while the whole shock was still bolted on the car, I use a hex key to stop it from turn and a allen ranch to loosen it up!!
Then take the whole shock out, compressed it, and now the top bolt should be a peace of cake!!
May be a bit tough now that you have the whole shock out!! but it can still be unbolt, just need more man power or aircompress!!

i don't think he said it was out of the car....did he??....anyway those hex keys strip the holes out very easily....i had to take a ******* hack-saw to mine and chop the ****** off...hahah....it worked tho!

canadian winters kill your car......rust on everything!!!
