Thieves cut radio harness, can this cause power shortage?
Question:
I bought a 1995 integra gsr theft recovery, all the wiring looks clean, cept the harness to the stereo was chopped. I put a new battery and fuses in for the first time last night, then check to see how all the electronics are working.
The instrument panel, climate control, and clock don't light up, and power windows and sun roof don't work. Power locks, dome lights, headlights/tail lights, break lights do. All the fuses are good, but there's no power at the fuse box for the things not working (checked with test light). The chime goes on when i turn the lights on, the highbeam indicator lights up on the cluster, and the dimmer control is adjusted to full.
My question is, does anyone know if cutting the wiring harness could cause a short that would lead to power loss in these things?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

well the 7.5 would be the radio's issue.... for the lighting, it might have screwed up the dimmer setup, which could knock your dash lights out. I'd dbl check all the fuses in the interior fuse panel again, using a multi-meter. There's been many times I've seen screwed up fuses that looked good but only passed maybe 6 volts, or sometimes as little as 1.5 volts.
Every single fuse under the dash is brand new...but I'll check for voltage anyways.
I was thinking since the factory radio is connected to the dash lights, the cut radio harness could cause a short there. But that leaves the clock, power windows & sunroof unexplained.
Also, I wouldn't think this could affect any of this, but I haven't got an ECU yet...does the car require the ECU to power the windows etc???
Thanks and if you have any other ideas on things to check, that be great! Electrical is sort of a mystery to me.
NOTE: I bought this car as a theft recovery and now I'm rebuilding it...this is it so far:

check to make sure the BCM is there also (I believe the Integra's use that setup also).... The body control model. The Power Windows could be caused by that possibly.... since I believe the relay for the passenger side window is located in it. The dash lights *could* be burned out because of the cut harness since the radio does connect to the dimmer. It's possible the dimmer unit got burned up. The clock is going to be either the back-up fuse under the hood or something to do with the accessory wire.
Also, check the fuse for the windows with the key in the ignition window, since they don't operate without the key in that position, my guess the fuses won't read anything unless you do so.

z0om I know for a fact that when I was installing my deck, if the cig lighter was out, the clock was out as well. Look in the cig lighter circuit and see if someting is wrong. If the cig works then is the clock plugged in? Have you tried taping the 12V connections on the radio harness and try again? I had a sunroof switch go bad as well.
There is a module for the pwr windows. Maybe that's unplugged?? How about an aftermarket alarm? Sometimes that could be the culprit.
BTW car looks
