My speedo like "twitches" when down shifting around 30-45mph........like I can be in 4th down shift and coast and it flickers........

have you recently done anything to the car? or did this just happen all of a sudden for no reason?

the temp gague could be the thermostat, and the speedo could be the vss.
but check your wiring first, and like jwn said, did you install anything?

My Nissan did the exact same thing.. then the Speedo melted, and fell off when I was driving.. was kind of funny. The chassis ground from the battery came loose, so the battery was only grounded to the engine.. well it found it's other ground through the speedo. Don't know if it would do the same in a civic, but worth a check. Otherwise I would guess it's both the VSS and the Thermostat..

it has to be your thermo, cause the same crap happened in my 95 civic a few years back and i replaced the thermo and it was fine, how many miles do you have on the car, i had about 112000 when i replaced mine

nothing installed lately.....car has 182k on it but motor has like 75k...its a DOHC ZC...

The temp guage goes up and down when I gun it or corners....could be the guage cluster itsself, but not sure....thermo stuck open?? it takes forever to heat up........what kinda thermo do you guys recomment....I do need a new radiator cuz the cap don't close too well...., but it does close.......

the car runs fine, but I'm just trying to make sure its not anything that will cause problems later down the road....

well does the gauge trip out on idle?

or does the gauge go down when the car is in motion?

if ur speedo (the mph and the rpm) is trippin out its the VSS

but its normal for the temp to go down when ur driving, and come back up when u make a stop and its on idle

the temp goes all the way down to cold and up to normal as I drive.....

the flutuating of the speedo only happens when off the trottle and from 30-50mph

the tach is fine!

My speedo bounced around one time. It turn out to be a loose wire on the alternator.
