Default TRANNY/CLUTCH Problem....NEED Help!!

I have a weird tranny/clutch problem that I've never had before. It all happened after I accidently mis-shifted into fourth. Well anyways...when i release the clutch AFTER putting it in gear while the car is moving something grinds when it engages. Usually if the tranny is grinding it would grind going into gear and not when releasing the clutch. It feels normal in neutral when I press the clutch and release it. Could it be the clutch or the tranny? NEED HELP!! TIA!!

A few questions for you: This grinding only occurs in 4th gear? Or did you just mis-shift and now its doing it engaging into all gears? If it was an input shaft bearing, or for that matter any part that is common to all the gears, you should be having trouble in other gears as well. Also, as far as driving in 4th, no weird noises or anything of that nature at all? It sounds to me as if you've stripped down either the brass synchros or the synchro slide (which is only sold as a set from honda and can be pretty pricey, i.e. just replaced my 5th gear set and 5th/reverse synchro set for a y21 tranny and the synchro set alone was $168). Any information pertaining to transmission feel and noises makes it a helluva lot easier to diagnose without actually lettin me drive the thing, so be VERY descriptive and don't leave anything out

yeah the only time it does it is when it engages in every gear when the clutch is released. 1st gear is not noticed as much. it feels freely when in neutral.

Any auto parts store carries Lucas.

I'm positive that Autozone has every lucas product.

wow your avatars are like evil twins . maybe try some gm syncromesh. i use it and it did help my 3rd gear grind a little, but it's still there. but, your problem is completely different than mine, so it may do nothing at all.

im kinda thinking its either ther T/O bearing or clutch becuase when i release the clutch i feel it grinding on the pedal. this is only when i put it in gear and not in neutral.
