I have a 97JDM R, i am in need of a new tranny, sometimes its hard just to get into first gear and at times, i can't even get into second. I guess its a syncro problem from what I've been reading and plus getting into 3rd and 5th gear grinds. Would I be better off going to the Acura/Honda dealer and have them hook it up (btw, my R is registered here in US just in case that had anything to do with them fixing the tranny) or would I be better off trying to buy a used jdm 97/98 spec tranny?

 

i have a 98spec jdmr tranny $1400 used. if your interested.
but you could take it to acura and have them rebuild it, does not matter if its rhd or not, but make sure you tell them to keep the car indoor all the time and that thief would go do anything to steal that car.

 

the synchros are expensive, but it's cheaper than buying a new tranny, if that is the only problem...

 

Are you sure its not the clutch?

 

Ditto. Sounds like when my clutch failed!
