Default what is needed to ADD power steering to a 94 DX?

I bought a 94 DX today and it doesnt have power steering... now since its gonna b my daily driver i would like to have power steering in it...

has anyone had power steering installed in their car or done it themselves?

i searched around and found that i am probably gonna need a new steering rack that is made for power steering...

anyone have any ideas how much this conversion would cost to do... and also how reliable it is?

thanx in advanced!

If it is feasable to do, you would need the rack, all the hoses, pump and brackets, resevoir, a belt and some fluid . Probably wouldn't be too much from an auto dismantler...

i wouldnt do it. IMO. steering response is better w/o PS. and it takes away 4.3 hp and 3.1 ft lbs of torqe. if ur looking for comfort and dont care about handling then dont do it. if u care about comfort and easy steering then do it. Plus no PS helped my triceps a little

Many people would like to remove PS. I would say swap your manual rack for a complete PS setup with someone. Both people get what they want for free (+labor & shipping of course).

I got a 95 ex that I want to convert to manual. I can trade you everything for your rack if you want.

You will need the sub frame also. The power rack has a different bolt pattern. Thats the only piece I need. I'm just too lazy to pick one up from a salvagr yard.

I went from a manual rack in my CX to an Integra rack, and then looped the PS lines to a breather. I didn't get a new subframe- just did some cutting and some shimming and it is mounted very solidly. A subframe would be an absolute nightmare to pull from a junkyard.

I have two 96-98 hatches. One w/ and one w/out powersteering. It is like night & day when you drive both types. p/s is very nice to have but if you want to get every single hp out of your car, keep it manual. good luck
