Well, i wanted to see what kind of power i was making at only 6 psi. Here are the results of a third gear run. The car is a built ls, stroker crank, 3/4 deck plate, stock head. only street tuned a bit on an aem ems and running rich.

191.6 hp and 188.5 torque ... very close numbers. Tell me what you think:

yeah dude, your definatley having some problems with the way that tq curve goes up and down! What are you tuning it with?

I noticed your using ems... you lose 20 ft/lbs of torque then get it right back in what looks like 1k rpms... what gives?

good question... I was expecting higher numbers but maybe with more boost things will start to straighten out. But like i said, my car was only mildly street tuned.

so for 6 psi would you all say this is bad?

 

can you post a full picture of the plot? i think b/c the pic is so zoomed in, it looks more spiky than it really is. also, whyre you only running 6psi on a built block?

 

Also what turbo are you running? Taht might help us determine if the peak is good or not.

 

ok , the turbo is of a ls drag 3 kit. turbonetics t3 t4 57 trim .63 ar i think. i haven't raised the boost because of a new break in. I have about 2500 miles on the new bottom end. Just want to start gradually. thanks for the help.

 

Vtec or no on the head? I know LS is non but a lot of people do the conversion. If non those aren't bad numbers for a street tune. Get a good tuner and you can put up some really good numbers. I know a kid same turbo on a stock B16a with hondata. Got it tuned put 275whp not sure of the tq on 8 psi.

heh dont u generally break in the motor 1st before slappin on a turbo kit

what i meant was, i wanted to start off on low boost then once i see everythings running good on 6 psi i'll raise it gradually. not just dump 20 lbs on right away.

 

Is third gear on an LS tranny closer to a 1:1 ratio than 4th? Interesting chart there...can you make another pic so we can see the rpms? I'm wondering about the dips and the fuel curves too.

When I got my car dyno'd they used 4th gear.

Yeah thats what i told them to do, then they were like fourth? na we use third gear so?

 

The numbers seem low for an ls on 6 psi. Allso, they should have ran it in 4th. I dont know what they were thinking. Where diod you take it?

I took it here to a local shop called evolution racing. They are new here and are the only ones in town with a dyno.

Regardless of whether they're higher or not, they'll be more accurate if you do a fourth gear pull.

BTW, now that I see the rpms, I can't help but think that some serious tuning still needs to be done to get the mean hp and torque numbers where they need to be. Those dips are pretty mean: can you feel them when you drive?

I really can't tell. The car feels really strong and pulls nice for 6 psi. I can def. tell a difference in torque from my stock block ls. The hp worries me though. Hopefully better tuning will help my car out.
