Default kgf/mm -> lbs, or maybe someone can help

I'm looking at Tein S-Tech springs that say they are 2.4-8.0k spring rate, in kgf/mm. Does anyone know how to convert this to lbs/in, or tell me if this is a good rate?

According to my convertion table that 1kg = 2.2lb and 1mm=0.0394"
So 2.4*2.2/0.0394=134lb/ft and 8*2.2/0.0394=447lb/ft

Therefore, the spring for Tein S-Tech springs are 134-447lb/ft.
With this progressive spring rate, it will gives very comfortable ride on street, but when you push hard during corner, it will stiffen up a lot.

I like the sound of that, anyone have any impressions on the ride quality of a rate like that compared to stock handling?

Thanks for your help mafay!

I have the Medium Tein S-Tech on my car along with the TEIN NA. The ride quality is very good, it is almost as comfortable as the stock suspension when I have the shock set at its softest setting. However, when I make a hard turn into a corner, it stiffen up a lot.

I believe that the stock spring rate is around 200lb/ft, so the TEIN S-Tech is actually softer than stock spring at its initial stage, but as you compress it more, it will become stiffer and stiffer.

If anyone interested in TEIN product, I can help them to get a good deal on it. Email me!!

I have a chance at picking up the S-Tech's for 120 for a set, and I'm thinking that's a pretty good deal. Then I was thinking getting some Koni Yellows to complement them.

Ok. Don't ask me my references, but here are my notes from when I was looking at the Mugen Lowdowns

Spring Rates - Mugen
Front – 385 lb 6.8 kg/mm
Rear – 245 lb 4.5 kg/mm

Spring Rates – Stock
Front – 246 lb /in
Rear – 140 ~246 lbs/in

Front – 4.4 kg/mm
Rear – 2.5 ~ 4.4 kg/mm

1 kg = 2.20462 lbs
1 mm = 0.0393701 inchs
conversion factor = 55.997317

If I was you, I would just get the TEIN NA to go with the TEIN S-Tech, since they are design to work together. I can get the you TEIN NA shock alone without the spring, email me if you are interesting.

Please xcuse the question. But looking at the information that arren123 gave (stock 2.5 ~ 4.4kg/mm rear), does that mean that we have progressive suspension in the rear? I dont have knowledge about this, thats why I ask. A progressive suspension means that it will get stiffer as your push it harder, am I correct?

thanks

yes, the rear sus is progressive

yoshi - who also wonders how "progressive" actually works, say on the street compared to at the track ?
