Default Any problems with doing 8 inch woofers in the kick panels?

Wondering two things:

1. Will there be a problem with the bass and the ECU?

2. Where would be a good place for the amp to be installed?

You are looking at all kinds of problems.

1. You will have to move the ECU to get the two sides of the kickpanels with identical volumes.

2. Depending on the applicaiton and woofer, the 8" will be too big for a kick applicaiton

3. Airspace? Do you plan on doing some cutting, if so, and 8 is easy, if not, it's not worth it when your door can accept it just as easily

4. Install the amp anywhere

What did you have in mind with the setup?

I have two 8 inch woofers in a bigass box now. I don't want the box anymore due to weight and the size. The only two viable positions I see now are:

1. Where my rear speakers are now (too tight there need a little custom).
I like number 1 but need some type of custom idea and kinda need some pics on how to go through the steps of making a custom enclosure.

2. In the spare wheel well
Doing number 2 means I need a whole lot of wood in order to cover the shole sprae tire well and make everything flush. This is not to mention the problem of cutting to fit. Lots of BS I am thinking.

3. Doors
I like this idea as well bu it seems like I owuld need some custom box there and fiberglass etc. However, the problem is where do my front speakers go?

I'll promise you this, to do 2 8"s in the kicks properly will take LOTs of work.

Perhaps you should consider re-evaluating your equipment choices to get something that suits your goals better then trying to make something work with what you have.

It would be best if you posted your current system with the model numbers. Then, after taking a look at what you have, we could suggest an economical upgrade path that will leave you happy...just a thought.

I appreciate that for sure, however, the components are a little older. I want the 8's somewhere for sure. I then want some tweeters in the future and some regular speakers for the doors. That all.

That won't work well the way you propose...provide more info and we can get you something that will work well.

If the 8"s are in their proper box, and that's HUGE, what makes you think that they will work in kicks?!?!

Just keep a few things in mind, playing the same frequencies out of multiple drivers is a bad thing. Generally, there is not enough room in the front of a car to get good subbass performance.

Like I said, let us know what you got, and then we can work out a strategy for you. Until then, keep your door speakers in the rear and the box as it is, or change equipment, that's all I can recommend...

You'd be better off with components in the kicks and subs in the door possibly. Maybe if they are the proper set you could AP them?!?!

Not sure without more info.

OK so I have the following now:

2 8 inch Phoenix Gold woofers
Phoenix Gold 400X1 amp
door speakers and rear speakers.

The box for my 8's is way too huge! I know that much
I don't care about the rear speakers, only want front sound.

What kind of airspace do 8 inch woofers need?

I want to get some tweeters eventually:

SO final setup
2 8 inch woofers (doors)
2 midrange speakers (kick panels)
2 tweeters (A pillars)

Can I use the amp for the subs, and the factory deck power for the other 4? Will I need crossovers to limit frequencies and stuff?

What door and rear speakers, or are they on their way out?

Can't tell you without a model number or some kind of data sheet

That could work, but I think that you are still going to have a problem getting any kind of low frequency extension out of the doors with the woofers you have....it's a guess right now....I think you will be better off with either ditching the 8's or making a different box for them...how big is the current box, what kind, etc?

You could run it from the head, but I wouldn't recommend...what headunit.

More info please!

I would put the tweeters in the kick panels too. You're going to have to build them anyways so its not a lot of extra work to do that.

as far as the crossovers go if you're using the amp to power the sub you'll want to run a lowpass filter which hopefully your amp has. You should also check your HU and see if theres a crossover setting for the rest of the speakers.
