Default questions on ecu's

ok, i'm gonna sound like an idiot here but can someone give me a run down on ecu's here. I know what they do but what does obd stand for and which one is the best and why? i have no idea. i don't know what a p28 or whatever is and i here everybody talkin about switchin from obd2 to obd1 and stuff. just some general stuff, and please don't tell me to search, i already did.

This link tells the difference. The p28 comes in the 92-95 civic as well as the 93-95 del Sol Si. They can be picked up for cheap. I still have my old one from before the swap and I'm gonna chip it with the Hondata and sell the GSR ECU to try and make some cash back. Broke.

This link has the p28 conversion from OBDII to OBDI and also tuned with some pretty good gains. But I'm probably gonna bet most of the gains came from the tuning and not the OBD conversion.
