Default Modified seat rails... will these be okay?

Hey... I had to raise the rails up a little bit. I used grade 12.9 allen head bolts from mcmaster, and the pictured washers. Will this be okay?

You know, you could've threaded a nut or two on there and it would be more stable than that stack of 8 bazillion washers. I wouldn't sit in that seat.

No I did it because the bar you pull to move foward/backwards wouldnt return to the original position, making the seat mobile from the rearward position foward until the bar was able to fall... catching the teeth.

I did this just for a temp fix. If it helps, the hole in the washers is barely big enough for the bolt, there is no play in that aspect of it.

Cut a piece of thick tubing with a washer welded or epoxied on each end and put it in there. I would not like to sit on all those washers when they slide.

dude.... I ordered these pieces from McMaster... The diameter of the hole of the washer is somethin like... .1mm away from the diamater of the bolt.

Okay... so..... explain the difference between what i did? I used the same sized bolt that the seat normally gets bolted down with, got a better grade.... and extended it. The area of the washer is greater than the contact area from the bottom of the rail....

still ? Tell me why.

i deno...im with you on this. i mean if you tightened that **** down, and the washers do not move at all. i see no reason why you should be fine.

to being creative. i probably would've done the same thing.

but i bet there are better, safer ways to create the same effect. but who gives a **** as long as it is a temp fix.

reason he wont be fine is because there is now more leverage on 2 opposite areas of the bolt. trust me that will snap in an hard crash.

There are reasons the seats sit tight to the ground. Maybe you can find some rails online or something, but I wouldn't be too comfortable sitting on that weakly supported bolt.

Well the bolts are indeed tight... and torwued down well, the seats dont move.

Whats a better solution? Maybe get some square stock and use that? I dunno.. shoot some ideas out.... a while ago I posted a thread asking how to FIX it.

yup. run square stock down the length of the hole rail and not just where the bolts go.
