After doing some pretty extensive searching and price checking I've decided that instead of having my engine sent off for some package deal I'd rather have the block machined and balanced by a shop and do the assembly myself. From what I've calculated it seems alot of these package deals must be cutting it close in some areas or aren't spending enough time IMO. I also don't really like the idea of set price since every block is different and will require different amounts of time.
The main services I need:
1. Boring and honing of the block. Willing to pay by the hour to make sure the job is done right. I want the highest precision possible and am willing to pay for it.
2. Rotating assembly balance. Same goes here. I don't want it balanced to just some acceptable specs. I want the balancer to go the extra mile to make sure my engine is silky smooth.
Other things (some depending on what setup I go with) I need general prices for:
1. Piston to rod assembly
2. Properly installing larger rod bolts on stock rods
3. Full engine assembly if I decide not to do it myself.
Any references or personal experience with any shop/builder would be appreciated. The car is hopefully going to see extensive road course use so it needs to be done right.

Justice Racing Engines...Frederick Md. 301 624 1000, ask for Jim. He can do all of the above, and has a road racing backround. Jason
everything can go accordingly to your expectations. however note that road racing involves numerous amounts of clutch replacement.

all I've heard about RS is good stuff, i find it hard to believe what allmotorb20vtec is saying because i talked to Bisi and RS because I was interested in maybe getting some work done and I recieved an email back from both of them the same day, Superior Racing Development in Phoenix, AZ does a really damn good job, and they've had a few cars in sport compact car, I've also heard really good things about Justice Racing from some of my friends in DC and I met some guys from their shop at battle of the imports in MD last summer and they were all nice guys, as far as quotes are concerned I think you'd be best off calling any shop you plan to deal w/, if they are a decent shop they will be eager to give you a quote at the least, good luck

I can also vouch for Jim Justice Racing Engines. I just had some work done from him and he is on hell of an nice honest guy. That's hard to find these days. Plus, his prices are pretty good.

Same here Jim's the best that I know of. I wouldn't tell anyone to go anywhere else. He doesn't just bore the blocks he blue print's them as he does them. He does this because of all the problems that he has seen in the sleeved Honda blocks. He goes the extra mile to do it right the first time.

active aero is in florida so I doubt he wants to send it to west coast
active, i dont think they can install the upgraded rod bolts until you put it on the crank. unless you are refering to something else

The only complaint about RS that I've ever heard and the poster can't spell or produce a grammerically correct sentence. Coincidence?
