Default To all turbo Preludes

Do any of you guys have your timing retarded for boost? If so, how much? I tried retarding mines by .75 degrees and again at .5 degress. My car seems slower. It was faster when the timing wasn't retarded.

it will get slower with retarded timing, it affects turbo spool and performance. my car ran like *** on backed off timing, however, it was safer, but if you wanna push the limits and make good power, do not pull timing unless absolutely necessary

If you have a way to tune your fuel system, I would goto a dyno and get the air/fuel at a good, safe level. That combined with a good set of colder plugs (I recommend ZEX) should keep you out of trouble for a while without messing with the timing.

I think I can run 10psi without any timing being retarded at all. On 15 psi with a 0.1 degree per psi, I get detonation occasionally. Using the Crome program, I'll probably leave 1-10psi unretarded and the retard 10-25 at .5 degrees per psi intervals. That seems like it would be safe. I wish there was a magic number or a formula to figure out how much timing needs to be retard.
