i just bought my hatch and i was told the engine was a 98. the ecu is labeled 94-95 GSR. is that obd2. im confused. i thought a 98 was obd2 and 94-95 was obd1. someone clear this up.
the ecu is in the car and the engine runs fine. im just confused to why i was told it was a 98 when ecu says 94-95. its probably just an obd1 engine. thats what i think. oh well. anyone else. how can i tell what year the engine is

engine could be OBDII but for ease of wiring/plugs they used OBDI ecu. anyways more benefits to having OBDI ecu anyways.
some quick notes:
96-8 OBDIIa
99-01 OBDIIb
92-5 OBDI
-OBDI ECU works with OBDII electronics without any problems.

chech your distributer. If i has just one big harness thats clip into each other with 10 wires its an OBD-II. Chech the ecu again is there a jumper attached to the interior harness. You can also tell my the wire harness on the motor. There is 4 different clips on the battery side of the engine bay where the engine harness mets the shock tower (intermediate harness) that makes the connection with the ecu
