Heat shield under the car is rattling, can I remove it safely?
Hey guys, I just recently swapped my 94 dx out for a b series. I also have 4-1's on it. After about a week I now hear rattling coming from under the car around 3.5-5k rpms. Can I safely remove the heat shield? Could it be something else causing this vibration noise?
I had this happen to me once, The welds on the heat shield broke loose , and it was chattering bad. I just removed the shield and have had no probs since........be careful , cuz the cat gets hot..........
On my old car I had removed every shield for the exhaust and never encountered any problems.
I also experienced a rattle that your describing that came from the itake manifold brace but if you havent messed with that at all I wouldint bother.

Mine was rattling a long time ago and i took my car to my shop (friends so they dont charge) to see what the hell was going on and it was my heat shield but it wasnt welded on.... i just removed it with hand and it was done and done....

Mine was bolted on. The areas around the bolts on the lower heat shield of my cat had completely rusted off...it was being held on by 1 bolt...I ripped that thing off and havent had a problem since
