Problem with Heater in 92
My friend's prelude developed this problem somehow, the slider for the hot/cold section won't go towards the cold side. Yet there is no heat blowing out. Can this be a case of a blown heater motor? How can I be sure before we start looking for replacement parts?

I'm going to take out the unit sometime this week but I forgot if I have to take apart anything else to get that unit out. I'm gonna take it out and dissemble it to see what the exact problem is. Thanks for the input.

i have the same problem...you have to get under the hood and flip the switch on the bottom of the firewall manually until you get a new cable..that's what i'm doing now anyway
I took a look at the car today, and I couldn't find the heater motor. I dunno if the fact that he has a H22 swaped in his 92 has anything to do with it. I adjusted any loose cables that we saw and the heater still does not work. I couldn't find the switch in the engine bay in the firewall. Can anyone please shed more info? Thanks in advance.

that would be the more difficult way imo. the cable goes from the climate control to some sliding thing under the dash. its on the passenger side right next to the console. Pushing it towards the front of the car should give u hot air. Towards the back would be cold.
This seems to be a problem with 4th gen climate controls. I took out the cable and never put it back in cuz it was a pain in the rear. I can reach the slider thing on the passenger side from the drivers seat so u shouldnt have a prob getting to it.
this is what it looks like

Sweet, Thanks JDM22Vtec, I'll give that a look the next time I have time to work on his car. Is this the reason the switch won't slide to the cold side?
it wont slide because the cable that connects the climate slider and the switch went bad like someone else said earlier. I had the same problem where i would try to push the slider over to heat but it would shoot back to cold air. I replaced the cable and everything is fine now. Replaced it just in time for winter *whew*
