Would a JL 500/1 amp and a Kicker L5 12'' sound nice???
Or does anyone have a similar set up with opinions?

Thats a very good amp, but I'd say u'd be slightly over-powering the sub. The L7 and that amp would be a good pair. Advantage to that amp is that u'll be able to get great power at a 4 ohm load, givin u a clean soundin set up.

 

The L5 is on sale for $99 so I'd rather do that than spend more $$$ on the L7
And the JL 500/1 is going for $250
