how to put battery in a b16/ef civic?
battery tray doesn't fit b/c the clutch cable bracket sticks up about an inch too high. i can't move the clutch cable w/out putting a sharp bend in it. how have other done this?
I wouldn't recommend relocating to the back of the car, that is unless you don't plan on going to the track. If you relocate your battery from the engine bay, you have to have an external power switch that kills ALL power to the car.
Might wanna see about getting a smaller one, like an Odyssey battery. I have one in my hatch and it fits perfect. I wish I had a pic, but basically, it's about 1/4 the size of the stock battery. Starts the car fine every time, even with my alarm.

i dont' think its a requirement... but im sure in some drag classes, they require it.. but for 10 seconds and up.. you'll be ok...

The track officials should be checking to see if you have a power cutoff switch easily accessible and visible from the rear of the car. You also need a vented battery box around the battery. I'm not sure if that holds with dry batteries but I know it's true with the wet types.

If its just the battery tray that's getting in the way, dont use it. That was my problem and i have been fine for 11 months now.

I have my battery in the back and when I went to the track they never said anything about it.
Also just get a sealed battery because than you don't have to vent anything.

That just means the official was lax in checking the car. A lot of times they just do a perfunctory check of my car because I don't run in the 11s or 12s, but sometimes you get an official that will check EVERYTHING. And if you're not to spec, you're not racing. I do everything by the book so I don't have to be worried about being kicked out

Word to your mother, some times i would go through tech, and not even have to pop my hood, or show registration.. and sometimes, ide have to do everything.. i always got busted and had to coff up my nitrous bottle, for no blow down tube, or having the 2 bottle tied down securely. ( after that, i snuck them in with a spectator )

That's what I said, an external power cut off switch, killing all power. I honestly haven't read the book, so I don't know the leagality of it. But I'm a regular at out track and know the techs and officials. When I asked what I'd need to do if I moved it, they told me about the switch. Some tracks are more slack than others. When I was in GA, they did'nt check much usually. At the local track here in Phoenix, they are usually pretty thorough, but not "nit-picking" things. Kill switches, removed hub caps, missing lugs, batter tie downs.. just the usuall important stuff.
