Ruined DC Sports header *follow-up*
Previous thread is here: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=678596
So I took my header back to House of Mufflers to have them move the first bung. It got butchered pretty bad. Aside from being the most hideous weld I've ever seen, they didn't center it, so the O2 sensor won't screw in all the way (the tip hits the massive clump of welding material inside), and even if it did, it's not really in the stream of exhaust like it should be. Here's some pictures for you to chuckle at (they may be slow to load, server is running off my cable modem.)
All right, now to the questions. Would it be worth it to salvage what's still good? I'm thinking I could bring it to a custom fab place and have them hack out the bad sections and weld in new pipe. Or should I just get a new one? I don't want to chip my ECU, so I'm gonna keep 2 O2 sensors... last thread someone said something about it being cylinders 1 and 3 I was suppose to tap, but since the stock manifold combines 1-4 and 2-3, does it really make a difference?
And if anyone knows of a japanese web site where I could order a manifold with 2 bungs already in the right place, I'd give that person 5 bucks.

Wow, just looking at that picture pisses me off. How much did you have to pay for that half-*** job? How much did you pay for the header? If you didn't get it brand new then I would get a new header instead of trying to salvage the ruined one.
What the @#$#@$@# ?
You could have done better yourself with a drill and welding it on by shorting out battery wires. Have them pay for a new one. They have insurance for it.

MY ***!!

MY ***!!
Wow.
That looks like ***.
It doesn't even look like they scraped the ceramic coating away from the header where they were welding to. I am amazed the bungs even stick in there.
Looks like they had a crappy arc welder. That looks horrible. WElds that look that bad usually won't last very long.

That is terrible. I bought a welder and have limited welding exp. But I can honestly say I have never done anything as poorly as what you had done. Anyone familier with exaust work should understand how an O2 sensor should sit. They did not clean the area as someone before mentioned nor did they clean the seam afterwords. That is one of the worst welds I have ever seen. I would grind out the weld and re seat the bung, and reweld it. I'm not sure I'd have the confidence to bring my parts back to that sorry *** place though.
ya thats sux ***!! kick them in the nutz when you go back for your new header
i have limited MIG and ARC welder expercene (1.5 tanks of MIG gas and half a spool or ARC wire) and... well all i can say is that not even my first weld ever was that horrible

First of, it's absolutly the worst job I'v senn in my life, god damn, that this is sadly welded to say the least...
don't pay for that, it's not... it's just not a job.
they probably got insurance so have them pay for a replacement unit.
Next time, PM me and mail me the bong with the header, I'll weld it for ya ****...
I can do a better job with a set of torch and a coat hanger damn!!!!
I got 2 welder in my garage, a mig and a stick.
If you scrap that header, send it to me, I'll pay the transport, I'll try to do something with it...
Kranked

Yep, and if they say no keep pushing them. They messed it up, now they have to fix it or buy you a new one.

i **** cleaner bung holes than that. we just got a new welder at my shop and i swear to god, if my first weld is that ugly i will slit my wrists... but anyway, please don't be a push over on that one, they did a bad job, they should get you a new one, don't let them get away with that.
holy shiznitz! i am not a welder or anything, but i know a bad welding job when i see one! umm, yah, get your money back or something bro, that's horrid! damn house of mufflers....
that my friend is horrible.. maybe you should ask them to pay for a new ******* header.. that **** is ridiculous! seriously.. if they did that **** i just wouldn't take no for an answer.. GET YOUR MONEY!
my 2
my 2
Oh **** that's bad. I'm only a mediocre welder because I don't have to do it everyday and I can do better than that. Next time you need that done, send it to me.
Do I hear small claims court if they don't get you a new one, yes I do. They should be embarased to try to pawn that mess off on you.
word. whats the deal. that **** is rediculous. just threaten them by saying your gunna take a complaint to the better business beauro or however you spell it. i had something like that happen to me with a turbo. i payed a guy 525 for a t3/t4 and he sent me a 1970s volvo turbo. then had enough nerve to say that turbo would make up to 400hp. i threatend him with the bbb and state tax liscencing department (because he was operating without a business liscence) and he refunded my money that week. i would try it. you obviously dont have much to lose.
