well ive had the drag three kit on my car since april and i didnt have the fuel pump installed since june (but i never boosted knowing that it would run lean) the kit was preforming really nice and now the exhaust is starting to smoke so i checked under the hood and the breather is smokin as well. my guess is the rings are goin out, i thought it was the head gasket but its not leakin out the bottom, i really dont know how this happened and so fast
any suggestions or comments

P.S. its my weekend car so the kit only has 3500 miles, but the car itself has 52000 miles!!!!

 

Rings must be fine, ring lands are probably gone! Do a compression test

 

I have the same kind of question. My car smokes sometimes when I am sitting in traffic for a while. It is not consistent though. I did a compression test on my car a week ago and everything was perfect: 220 200 220 225. Spark plugs were brown(good), so I wasn't detonating during that time. I looked down into the spark plug holes and noticed my pistons were pretty black and wet. The car still smokes a bit in stop and go, so maybe a compression test is not a clear indicator of what is happening. Maybe a leak down test would be better.

Id suggest this, then go from there

 

he said it. get a comp test. get a fuel pump and get a better fuel management if you are running a FMU.

 

my gsr does the same, I think its a bad valve stem seal. I'm going to yank the head soon to see what's up.

 

Maxim, I would guess its your turbo. If its got good compression and smokes only out of the exhaust off and on then its the turbo. I have a motot with messed up oil control rings and it still had good numbers
