Default D16Z6 questions

alright, so in the coming days i will be taking delivery of a '93 SI. the car is nearly pristine (as in *almost* stock) with just over 90,000 miles on it.

the problem is, it burns oil under full-throttle acceleration, seems like ring wear. my question is, should i buy a used engine or to just rebuild the one ive got? i have experience building engines, so my skills are not the question. im just wondering about prices and the quality of used engine that are available (keeping a d-series). i did a search on d16 rebuilds, and the threads that came up werent terribly helpful. perhaps im using the wrong search terms.

so what do you EG people think? go the easy way and buy a used motor, or spend the time (and money) on a rebuild? or should i get a used motor and freshen it u while the current one kills itself?

thanks in advance for helping a clueless n00b

rebuild it with after maket parts. or do the new thing of using the best of factory parts from various motors.

drive it as it is....put oil in it when needed.....do a compression check....i wouldn't rip it apart until absolutely neccessary....like i'm burning 3 quarts of oil a week!

it may be valvestem seals. when vtec engages, the valvestems move more, causing more oil to make it past the seals. most vtec hondas that start butring more oil when vtec engages need new valvestem seals. it's a cheap fix (a set of 16's ~$30 from honda), and no biggie if it doesn't work good luck
