Default Bridgestone S-03s and track use?

How well do these tires hold up on the track?

They hold up well. They're very popular at the events I attend with the BMW/Audi/Porsche/VW crowd. I'm on my second set now after using the first set for five HPDEs and 25,000 street miles. They still have enough tread for more use in spring but I put the second set of wheels on with new S-03s for winter since they were getting a bit thin. I found it takes a lot to get S-03s greasy on the track, even on 100 degree days. They are stellar in rain or on a wet track. Just the right amount of noise and feedback for my tastes. Keep in mind I drive a 2900 pound VW.

I have them on my e36 m3, they're awesome on the street. Sounds like a good tire for AutoX and Track use. My rear tires are worn down to the tread markers and i havn't noticed any loss in trackion have you? They seem to wear well.

I have them on my NSX and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of traction these things have. Granted it's no R compound but dang the 3's didn't feel like them. They do get greasy when overheated.

More info and opinion next track season.

the azenis have a little more dry grip and cost half as much. in the wet the s03 is in the top 3 street tires available, at any price. by far the best wet street tire I have ever driven

the only downside to the azenis as a dry tire is they only come in about 5 sizes.

A friend has 30,000 miles on his 225/45-17 S03's on a WRX. Less revs per mile than most of our sizes but also a lot heavier. I'm impressed as hell for how well they grip in the dry. A student of mine at the last HPDE of the year had them on his Cooper S and that car felt great, even on a dead-cold, damp, slimy day.

Too bad they're so expensive. I'm still considering them for my next set of streets.

S03's here also in 205/50 15 on stock R rims. Wet traction is second to none, dry traction is very good also. The S03 is more sticky on the second half of its life( going down near tread indicators).

But for $450 in my small size I will be purchasing Azenis in spring, and hoping for no "wet" HPDE's......

I've had both on my Prelude. For the track, I'd take the S-03s since they seem to loose less grip when hot. My experience with the two is mostly autoX... On a hot day, the Azenis are greasy after only a run or two. But when cold, the Azenis have a significantly higher ultimate grip than S-03s. I would defintely take the Azenis for an AutoX street tire, but the S-03s are probably the better of the two for long lapping sessions on a road course. The S-03s have less ultimate dry grip than Azenis. But they seem much less affected by heat, retaining their grip well even when hot after repeated runs. Overall the S-03s are a fantastic street tire too - quiet, very grippy in the dry, cope pretty well with heat... And as someone else mentioned, the S-03s have so much wet traction that they just seem to defy the laws of physics.
