Default Reuse a Cometic HP headgasket?

Has anyone ever reused a Cometic HP headgasket? I swear I heard somewhere that they are reusable. I really don't want to have to pay for another one. Anyone?

My friend has a 10sec buick GN and he runs them. He says they are "rebuildable". Like you send $20 to they with the HG and they recoat it... BUT that's for GN's... Prob. the same for honda too though..

I have reused Cometic MLS's successfully in emergency situations. The raised areas in the gasket must still be raised to do this successfully, however. If the gasket is flat and looks used up, it could possibly fail. Use copper spray when doing that.

Thanks for the input. Since this is a HP gasket with the extra "fire-ring" around the cylinders, do you think it is more likely to seal if reused than a normal 3-layer MLS gasket?

Also, what does the copper spray accomplish?

with gasket, you need to go by the block that you're using. For o-ringed block, get the non o-ringed gasket and vice versa. It will seal the cylinders but it will not seals the water and oil passage.

The copper gasket seals tiny hairline spaces in between head/block to the gasket. It prevents seepage of coolant leaking out the longblock. Coolant is very corrosive to aluminum and a tiny flow/channel can means disaster in the long run as it can warp your head/block.

ive reused every headgasket there is on the honda market.... stock, stock bored, cometics, etc you name ive reused it...you just have to know how to look at the gasket... you could tell when it starts warping its no good.. ive reused gaskets when swapping different heads to try just sprayed copper on it and your good to go.....if it a street car.. and you dont know how to swap heads yourself... DONT TRY THIS AT HOME KIDS
