Default replacing turn signal bulb

i'm replacing the drivers side turn signal bulb (the one closest to the center of the car..inside, not outside) in my 95 GSR. i pulled out the housing and unclipped the plug, but i can't pull the the thing out. hopefully you know what "thing" i'm talking about. i don't know the name for it.

anyways, my question is, does it twist clockwise or counterclockwise, or just pull straight out? i've tried all three, and it won't move. i haven't applied a great deal of force cause i don't want to break anything, but i've twisted and pulled with enough force that i would think it should move.

any suggestions? thanks

Did you push in and then turn?
