Default How do I get some duct tape off my paint :(

Ok the window on my golf was broken, it wouldnt stay up.

My friend (the owner of the car) put duct tape on the window to hold it up as a temp fix.

How can I get it off? There is a good amount of it on the door frame and on the outside top of the window.

Im hearing I should use some stuff called goo gone and a baby diaper (or something that wont scratch the paint)

Thanks for any help.

I agree, goo gone or goof off should do it.

goo gone usually works pretty good... citrus based so it wont mess up the paint. goof off works really well but i dont know if its okay to use on paint?

heating up the glue from the tape and using rubbing alcohol will work too.

DO NOT USE GOOF OFF. Use Goo Gone for car paint, or just the regular one.

But if you do use Goof Off, it'll strip the paint right off.

WD40 is safe for paint

or go to an automotive paint supplier and buy a professional bug/tar remover

That's weird, I used goof off on the sticky stuff under my stock pin stripes, then waxed the car, never had a problem. That was about a year ago.
